Rrowr.

My chi is in all kinds of good shape this weekend, after acupuncture yesterday and yoga at the Greenpoint YMCA this morning. Also I had a good writing session yesterday morning, a new essay, finally, about all the moving around. I am really enjoying writing all kinds of things these days. It feels like I've finally released something after all those months of being wound up tight.

Last night we saw "Iron Man" and enjoyed it though not as much as we had both hoped. Robert Downey Jr. was of course fascinating and did more with the role than it deserved and all the other performances were spot on (Terrence Howard is my new boyfriend) but there wasn't too much of a rallying cry anywhere in the movie. I always expect the audience to burst into spontaneous applause when there is an ass-kicking scene, but it was a fairly quiet audience all along. Maybe it was because all those big fight scenes were all about Iron Man fumbling along and somehow barely surviving through another battle. Also he seems to drink a lot of scotch. Which is to say, Iron Man is very human. Maybe that's the point, a request for a revision of our expectations.

I didn't know I had this much to say about super heroes.
