More Stuff, More Assholes.

More Stuff. More Williamsburg.
Whoa.
Listen, I recognize I am a part of the problem rather than the solution. I am a gentrifier as much as anyone else. When I moved here I was seriously just looking for a bigger apartment I could afford and I really connected with the neighborhood, but nonetheless, I (and my freelancing dollars) have contributed to the rising costs of Williamsburg. I don't know if my fashion choices have necessarily helped increase the trendiness of the neighborhood, and I'm older than your average hipster, but I paid the fucking ridiculous rent, I ate at the expensive restaurants, and I shopped at the overpriced boutiques, so I have participated - at least in the last five years - in making this neighborhood what it is now. I did not mean to do it, but I can at least admit it.
But "More Stuff, More Williamsburg" as a campaign is one of the most evil things I have seen in a long time. It represents everything that's wrong with our obsessively consumptive society. I am terrified to see what this neighborhood is going to be come in the next five years if the kind of people who might respond to this campaign actually move to the neighborhood.
Jesus Christ, you people are assholes.
